We truly believe that you can accomplish anything if you simply set your mind to it. We've provided the following articles to show you limits that are being broken and to encourage you in your pursuit of you dreams.

Cell Phone Grows Into Sunflower
Scientists said this month that they have come up with a cell phone cover that will grow into a sunflower when thrown away. "It's a totally biodegradable and non-toxic plastic," said Pvaxx spokesman peter Morris.

Sly-Tech Clothing
You probably have your MP3 player but did you get your Sly-Tech clothing yet? Those clever schientist and manufacturers have been busy creating all sorts of smart clothing

Here are a few:

Cool it: When it's hot and you sweat, the fabric lets air in. When it's chilly, things close up.

Clean it: Chinese scientists have come up with self-cleaning textiles that when exposed to sunlight, the tianium dioxide "degrades all the dirt around it." I referenced the first generation of this nano technology used to clean highrise windows in response #6 for one of my interviews some time ago.

Wire it: In Europe at least two apparel makers have jackets with a fabric keypad on the sleeve and wiring for an MP3 player etc. Discussions are underway for building this technology into a T-shirt to enable monitoring of the heartbeat and blood pressure.

Smell it: Gore-Tex has scent supressing clothing for hunters. Now New York based International Flavors & Fragrances is working on bringing this technology to aromatherapy clothing!

V-Chip implant
Have you gotten "chipped" yet? All the beautiful people are doing it. Well, actually, only six have done it so far, but give a new idea a chance.

You're playing with my mind!
I'm in Stockholm, playing Mindball. And stunningly, I'm beating Bitte Hannell, a partner of the company that hopes to turn Mindball into a gaming phenomenon. Call it beginner's luck—or evidence that I'm just really relaxed.

Now the Blind can play baseball
In the field of dreams of Everett Gavel Jr. and Mark Paul, there are sounds: beeps and buzzes mostly. And there are cheers; but they come much later, as a final punctuation.

New Sight
Every eye doctor dreads telling a patient that he will never see again. In 1987, after delivering such news to an 11-year-old Chicago boy, ophthalmologist Alan Chow vowed "no more."

A gender split in the executive suite
Men mind careers, while women consider the company

From MSNBC
Published August 11th, 2004

Men in management are self-focused, while women are most concerned about their co-workers and customers, according to a new survey of U.S. executives.

The results, from a four-year study by employee research firm ISR, are so clearly divided along gender lines that they risk comparison to some well-worn expectations—but also shed insight on women's still-tricky climb up the corporate ladder.

Among senior executives, the job commitment of women climbing that ladder is most influenced by what ISR called "communal" aspects of their positions: They place value on their working relationships…

Women were victimized
From Newsday
Published July 14, 2004

For the most part Wall Street is where "women are subjected to an environment that's degrading, and that environment influences decision-making that affects women's compensation and status," The "Boom Boom Room" class-action suit first brought in 1996 against Salomon Smith Barney, charging male managers in the Garden City office with groping, propositioning, referring to female colleagues in obscene language, sending condoms through pneumatic tubes to female colleagues, requiring female sales assistants to wear short skirts and…

$54M payout by Morgan Stanley is being hailed by women, the climb remains steep, slow
From Chicago Tribune
Published July 14, 2004

Though the $54 million Morgan Stanley sexual-discrimination settlement announced Monday was lauded as a "watershed in safeguarding and promoting the rights of women on Wall Street," experts warn that women will still face an uphill battle in that predominately male culture.

But they said the settlement will make that battle easier.

"Hundreds of women have lurid tales to tell," said…

Boeing Co. will pay as much as $72.5 million to settle a discrimination lawsuit by female workers who say they were denied pay raises and promotions.

U.S. District Judge Marsha Pechman in Seattle gave preliminary approval to the settlement today. The class action accord covers about 29,000 female workers at plants in three Washington cities.

Discrimination complaints by women jump sharply
From T. SHAWN TAYLOR
