When
you know and feel the miracle that you are, you become certain
that nothing is impossible for you.
~ Everyday Wisdom, Dr. Wayne Dyer ~ Bernard Shaw Retires with dignity and optimism for the future CNN gave Bernard Shaw a sendoff today that was the most sincere and meaningful sendoff I have seen in decades. For those of you who missed it, I sincerely hope that CNN will repeat it. It was the epitome of the possible personal achievements available in America to those who chart their course, set their ship and sail off with motivation, expectation, perseverance and tenacity in the directions of their dreams. Hopefully it will be repeated so that you will have a chance to experience it for yourselves. I am filled with hope for the future possibilities for young people to achieve greatness. The nearly one hour of airtime that CNN used to pay homage to this man, coupled with the fact that Ted Turner himself showed up to thank Mr. Shaw for his work and contribution to the network, plus the many journalists who participated in expressing how this man has touched their lives, was proof enough for me that the American Dream is still achievable and within our reach. Mr. Shaw progressed from being a green recruit in the armed services who dreamed of being a journalist at a time when black males were not a part of the main TV anchor lineup, to being the first anchor for CNN when they started their 24-hour news station, to being surrounded by all of his colleagues when he decided to retire and spend more time with his family. Mr. Shaw's strength of character shines through his eyes as though to say, "it can be done; and the fact that I am here today proves it!" Our lives are what our thoughts create.
